      - Tideway Head of the River 2007-

The Tideway Head is the premier "head" event of the UK rowing calendar.

It attracts top crews from around the UK and overseas, rowed over the University Boat Race course "in reverse" from Mortlake to Putney.

Entries are limited to 420 crews.

A Head is a time trial - crews set off at approx. 10 second intervals and are timed over the course, finishing position depends solely on the time taken over the course.  Crews start in the order they finished last year - ie fastest crew from the previous year starts first, typically this means that the best crews are in the early starters, however, occasionally a new entry (starting towards the back, after the crews with results from the previous year) may upset the natural order.

This year, the event was marred by appalling weather ...

The race was called off ...
